Pammy Joy
Queen of our hearts
Pammy Joy & Claudia.
Pammy Joy has been a long-time sweetheart of the stable having the kindest nature, prettiest face and most outstanding personality. The now 7yo bay mare by NICCONI from JOYANO started her racing career with Lindsay Park in June 2021 and retired in June 2025. She raced 34 times for 3 wins, 4 seconds and 1 third. Her racing career was not illustrious, but she earned her owners around 105k and won the hearts of everyone who knew her along the way. She finished racing in mid-2025 and her ownership voted to send her into Lindsay Park’s newly Racing Victoria acknowledged OTT retraining programme to help her find a new life, off the track. As a result, Pammy Joy has become the first of our retirees to graduate from the new retraining programme and find a wonderful home. Her new owner Claudia tells the story of how they met.
“I had been riding for just under a year when I started looking for a horse to call my own, with full support from my trainer. I had been looking for a few weeks when I got in contact with Lisa McMaster from Lindsay Park. Lisa was wonderfully helpful to deal with – she’s been helping to rehome OTT horses for a couple of decades, so I felt very secure she knew what she was talking about. Lisa talked to me about a mare that had retired from racing, completed her retraining and was looking for a forever home. She explained how special this horse is and how all the staff absolutely adored her. I was excited at the prospect of meeting her. Lisa told me her name is Pammy Joy.
I asked a friend of mine who is a bit more of an experienced rider to make the journey to Creightons Creek with me to meet and view Pammy. Being a rider that is still learning and new to OTT’s, I was a little bit nervous about the test ride on Pammy but oh my, I could not wipe the smile off my face once I was on her. I am also an individual that has MS so I was really looking for a horse that I can not only grow with, but who also has the patience I need. Lisa and I both agreed that Pammy and I made a really great team. We rode really well together, and Lisa thought that if I continued to work with my trainer we would develop beautifully together and make an amazing pair. And so it happened that Pammy came to live with me, well at my trainer’s property to be exact, and we have been together ever since. I feel so happy about this! Pammy has shown me nothing but love and kindness. She always walks straight up to the gate as soon as she sees me, greeting me with kisses and always asking for scratches. We’ve being growing beautifully together already, and I can’t believe it’s only been a month. We are working slowly on our transitions in the arena and enjoying the slower side of life after racing. As time goes on and we grow our relationship more, I look forward to giving many different disciplines a go with Pammy, with trail riding being a favourite place. It’s safe to say that this mare definitely has my heart and I can’t wait to see where our riding journey takes us.“
We wish Claudia and Pammy all the absolute best for a wonderful life together going forward.
