Foreperson - Pakenham
Reports to: Assistant Trainer
Hours: Full-time
Location: Pakenham
Lindsay Park Racing is looking for an experienced and highly motivated person to join our Pakenham stable on a full-time basis as a Foreperson. Salary will be negotiable dependent on experience. A high-quality accommodation option is available if needed. The right person will be skilled and experienced in managing a team of horses and staff. You will be able to take direction from, and work closely with, our Assistant Trainer and Head Trainers. We are looking for a committed team member who has extensive horse experience, is a natural leader and leads by example.
Tasks include:
Managing the day-to-day running of a barn of horses in training
Management and coordination of stable staff, including timesheet management and rostering
Taking horse temperatures, treatment administration and being able to teach staff how to do so
Consulting with stable vets, farriers and chiros to manage health and wellbeing of horses
Maintaining horse records in line with the rules of racing
Representing the stable at jump-outs, barrier trials and race days as required
Preparing horses for trackwork
Qualifications:
You will need a minimum of 3 years full time experience as a foreperson, or 2 years full time experience and a relevant qualification such as Certificates in Stablehand and Equine Industry.
Effective communication and team building skills
Proven experience in managing and leading a stable barn and team
Demonstrated experience and confidence in handling and educating horses
Race day experience representing a stable and talking to media
Knowledge and understanding of the rules of racing
