Key People at Lindsay Park Racing

David Hayes

Sole proprietor of Lindsay Park

Sole proprietor of Lindsay Park, having bought out his siblings following his father’s passing. David is sole trainer for Lindsay Park Racing Stable and oversees the business of Lindsay Park.  David gleaned horse education and instinct from a lifetime with his dad before expanding his own career internationally into Hong Kong.   He spends his week split between training at his Flemington complex and at Lindsay Park in Angaston (and in Sydney when need be).   David's passion is his horses, he is a keen competitor, loves sport and is a dedicated family man.

Tony McEvoy

Racing Manager

Tony is based at Angaston.  He communicates with all clients on a personal level regarding the progress of their horse in training. Beginning as an apprentice jockey under Colin Hayes in 1972, Tony rode a number of winners before “weight” ended his career prematurely.  A long term loyal “Lindsay Parker”, training under both Colin and Peter Hayes, Tony took over as Lindsay Park trainer following the tragic death of Peter and before David’s return from Hong Kong.   He won four Adelaide Trainer’s Premierships and one Melbourne Trainer’s Premiership, while preparing Fields Of Omagh to win the 2003 Cox Plate.

John Cornell

Assistant Trainer

John began at Lindsay Park in 1982 and continues to be based there.  He left Lindsay Park briefly and moved to Oakbank assisting Peter Hayes with his training in the late 80’s.   He returned to Lindsay Park and having worked alongside Tony for years, he is now David’s right-hand man in the training hut.  A former jumps jockey with a number of winners to his name and with a lifetime of experience in racing, John assists in all aspects of training, with a keen eye and practical knowledge.

Gary Fennessy

Assistant Trainer

“Bim”, as he affectionately known, has been part of the Hayes team since he was 16 years old.  His first job was as a stable sweeper for Colin Hayes at his Fisher Parade stables in Melbourne. He followed CS to Semaphore and to Lindsay Park to pursue a riding/training career under “the Master”. Moving to Melbourne in 1984. as a manager for CS, Bim has overseen nearly all of the Lindsay Park champions from Dulcify to Better Loosen Up, Zabeel and Miss Finland. Bim is David’s right hand in the Melbourne operation and like many other loyal long-term employees, is part of the Lindsay Park family.

Mark Pilkington

Bloodstock Sales Manager - Racing & Stud

Full-bodied personality “Pilk” has any eye for a horse and is always on the sales trail. Mark is largely responsible for selecting all the yearlings at auction in conjunction with David and Tony and is always on the lookout to buy tried horses for the stable. He is vital in client relations and communication. With astute business acumen, Mark hails from Perth where he was owner/operator of Goodwood Bloodstock which was purchased by Magic Millions Bloodstock.  At that time in 1999, Mark re-located to Melbourne with his family to work for Lindsay Park at the Flemington stables office.

Dr Campbell Baker

Veterinary Surgeon

Based at Lindsay Park, Angaston, Campbell has been with the team since 1980.   He first started as veterinarian to Colin’s horses at Fisher Parade in Melbourne and then became a full time employee and moved to Angaston. Cam’s wealth of knowledge and practical racehorse experience is invaluable to David as a trainer and also as a yearling buyer. Cam attends track work each day consulting on every horse after its gallops and attending to it’s needs. An expert in veterinary medicine, Cam runs the vet hospital at Lindsay Park and is always on call.

David Saegenschnitter

General Manager

David is integral in the administration and structure of the business of Lindsay Park. Having worked for over 20 years at Lindsay Park and closely with Colin Hayes, David was a senior accountant before being appointed General Manager by David Hayes. Based at Flemington, Jenny focuses on client relations, business development, media communication, and promotion of Lindsay Park both locally and internationally.

Having been with Lindsay Park for over three years, Bruno is an asset all round, overseeing the training of the horses on the galloping machine, taking over float driving duties when needed and is an excellent communicator when it comes to clients and jockeys.
